Breakfast For Dinner With Tyson – And A Chance For You To Win Prizes!

Remember when I got so excited about the prospect of early asparagus I made up a whole recipe just to celebrate? That was only part of the story.  My asparagus creation actually became part of a Breakfast For Dinner meal that I made.  Rebels that we are; my family likes a good breakfast for dinner once in a while.  I am the most pathetic pancake maker in the whole entire world, so I have to rely on other dishes.

I hadn’t been to Sam’s Club in a while, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the selection has gotten since I was there last.  You can see all of my finds during that shopping trip here, but the big find for making my Breakfast For Dinner meal complete was Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls.

There is something about them that makes me think of Dim Sum; I can totally picture these hanging out in a steamer basket and being wheeled around a restaurant on a cart. They’re kind of like a bagel with eggs, sausage and cheese all in a cute little bundle.

I went in another direction, though.  More brunch for dinner than breakfast for dinner; I served Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls, fruit salad, the asparagus-meets-fillo-dough experiment, and some cinnamon rolls from the bakery. Since the bread bowls take less than a minute to make, it was pretty easy to pull together a nice meal.

It was a perfect, simple breakfast for dinner.

Did my family like it?

I’ll take that as a yes.

What’s Your Six?

MyGR6 Whats Your Six?

Have you seen this campaign around town? MyGR6 was introduced at the Fourth of July Fireworks by Mayor George Heartwell.   It’s an amazing campaign sponsored by Amway and the Grand Rapids Press designed to encourage folks to create their own six word memoir.

I was there.  I was inspired.  I was excited.  Longtime Big Binder readers will recall that I love Mayor George Heartwell.  And I love Grand Rapids.  And I love words.

My ‘six’ came to me very quickly. Six words about what living here means to me.   Six words about living in a community rich with activities for families; so many that I have written Big Binder for four years and never, ever run out of things to talk about.  About living in a community that allows a family of simple means to educate, nourish, and entertain their children.  A community that values hard work, faith and family.  Passing those values on to our children.

Raising the next generation of awesome.

What’s your six? What does living {or playing, or working, or visiting, or reading about} Grand Rapids mean to you? To your family? Think about it,, then head over to www.mygr6.com and enter your own six word memior.  The contest runs through October 4, and six winners will get a suh-weet prize package I’m not even going to tell you about other than to say they are valued at over $10,000 because I want you to go check them out for yourselves.  While you’re there, read other people’s ‘six’ and leave your own six.

If you’ve been reading Big Binder for a while, you also know that I love a party.  And I love Twitter.  And I love prizes.  And we I love it even better when they all come together!  If you are on Twitter, join us for a Twitter party on Tuesday September 20 from 8-9 PM.  Follow me at @bigbinderblog where we’ll be using the hashtag #MyGR6. You must RSVP {below} and be present and participating to win.  Winners will be drawn at random using Random.org.  You need to reply within 5 minutes in order to obtain your prize, or another winner will be drawn.

I am proud to have been chosen as one of the bloggers to write a sponsored post about MyGR6.  All opinions are my own.
