Family Fun at LEGOLAND Chicago!

It’s been almost a year since our last visit to LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Chicago and frankly; I’m not sure where I found the strength to fend off A.P.’s near constant requests to return.  His interest {some people call it an obsession, but some people are not very polite now, are they?} has not diminished one tiny little LEGO brick since then.  In fact, I’m quite sure it has strengthened.

This time, we took my husband which was less like having an additional parent and more like having one of A.P.’s friends along.

He loved it.

Father’s Day is coming up, ladies.  Don’t underestimate the power of LEGOLAND Discovery Center when it comes to making Dad a happy man…

It was Pirate’s Weekend while we were there, and my kids (all three of them) loved looking for treasure chests in the scavenger hunt, searching for hidden flags in the the “Buccaneer Bounty”, building LEGO parrots, playing in the Pirate Plank Tournament, and the checking out the Pirate Battle in MINILAND.

The LEGO Factory is a fun way for the kids to understand how the bricks are made and the 4D theater is fun too, but the LEGO Test Track and Technicycle Ride were still the favorites.

Last time I went, it was for a media preview and I was so impressed by the staff but thought they might have been on their best behavior for the event.  Nope, they were just as awesome this time and they had no idea I was a blogger.  These folks are really good at relating to kids and encouraging their creativity.

Also, we got to check out the new Kingdom Quest ride, which is awesome because you get guns.

It’s an easy one tank trip and would make for a great summer adventure. Other than going through Gary, Indiana (Kidding!) (No I’m not.), it’s a really nice drive too.  Charge up the iPad or your choice of digital entertainment, grab a couple of quarters for the toll road, and you’re there!

Let me know if you go, I’d love to hear about your visit!

I was provided with complimentary passes from LEGOLAND Discover Center, but I was not under obligation to share our experiences with you.  All opinions are my own.

  11. We were there that weekend too:)! We went the Saturday before memorial day – it was all about Pirates. The kids had fun fun fun! We’ve been to the huge “real” legoland (we visited last summer) so I was worried they would be disappointed since this one is so much smaller. But they absolutely loved it!

  15. Looks like fun! They were giving away tickets on our local radio station, only I was driving. I’d like to take Sammie before she gets too big. I thinks there’s one either in SF or LA.
