The Mayor’s 8th Annual Grand River Clean Up
The event is October 1, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 12:30. It all begins at the Sixth Street Bridge Park, 647 Monroe NW. For the last seven years, hundreds of volunteers have participated in the Mayor’s Annual Grand River Clean Up. During this time the West Michigan Environmental Action Council and volunteers have helped give the Grand River a serious makeover by removing over 80,000 pounds of trash/debris from the banks. In recent years, the cities of Wyoming, Grandville, and Walker have joined the city of Grand Rapids for a community-wide Mayor’s Grand River Clean Up, to clean the stretches of the Grand River that run through their respective cities. Volunteers will meet at the Sixth Street Bridge Park and will be bussed to the various locations along the Grand River.
