The Fall Leaf Project

A couple of weeks ago, my husband took the kids camping.  It was awesome.  The house was quiet and clean for 48 hours straight! Apparently the campers had a good time too.  I heard a little about BB guns, flaming marshmallows, and rides on a quad.

I didn’t ask for any details.

While they were gone I created a “Comfy Library Space”.  All of the kids’ books are in one place, neatly organized with seasonal books on the top shelf.  There is a listening center with all of the books on CD and tape in a nice, neat row.  There are huge pillows to lounge upon.

By the way; I can totally hear you thinking right now and I know you are saying, ”"Holy COW she’s a dork!”.”WOW she’s cool!”

I know!

One of the books on the ‘seasonal’ shelf is “The Fall Leaf Project“.  Mrs. Connor’s class at Robin Hill School, which is in some undisclosed location that leaves change colors decided to mail a box of leaves to another undisclosed location, taught by a friend of Mrs. Connor’s named Mr. Soto.

SPOILER ALERT:  Mr. Soto’s class loved the leaves, and wrote a thank you note! Sorry if I wrecked the surprise.  The book is a real nail biter!

My kids started talking about friends who have moved away (sadly, we have a lot of friends in that category…) that don’t have pretty fall leaves.

“MOM! DO THEY HAVE TREES IN TEXAS?”

Yes, of course.

“MOM! DO THE TREES HAVE NICE LEAVES IN TEXAS?”

I don’t know.

“MOM! CAN WE SEND SOME LEAVES TO I. and M.?”

“YES!”

We decided to make seasonal placemats.  The kids ran out to the yard for leaves while I dug around for some seasonal-ish paper and stickers.  A.P. made this one for his buddy:

And Maybelle made this one for hers:

I headed over to The UPS Store and shipped them off to our friends.  You can see how that went here:

I tried to time this post with when the package should arrive.  I hope I didn’t wreck the big surprise…

I was compensated for my time by The UPS Store.  All opinions are my own.
