We just got home from the Griffins game.  I was impressed; the kids made it to just a few minutes before the end of the second period.  Actually it was A.P. who called it; Maybelle was fired up and could have stayed for the whole thing.  Or maybe he was just sick of me trying to explain a power play, I’m not sure. 

They are hoarse from yelling.  I was surrounded by “Gooooooo GRIFFINS!” on one side and “READY SET GO” on the other the whole time. We had great seats, and got a great parking spot.  It was on the street, right next to the Ottawa/Fulton lot.  So, we just hopped out of the car and walked across the street to the stadium.  That never happens!

My friend Jill had told me that Douglas J Salon, which I have written about before and absolutely love offers a free service if you show your ticket stub.  I chatted with the Douglas J folks who were there (and also borrowed a smidge of Aveda hand lotion) and they said that was correct; as long as I get down there in the next 15 days.  Awesome. A haircut there is $15, and the tickets were only $17, so that’s a pretty good deal.

It was Lake Michigan Credit Union member night, so we got a t-shirt and a $5 food voucher also.  I didn’t think $15 worth of stadium food would be much, but I was quite wrong.  We ended up getting a huge bag of cotton candy, a large popcorn, and a large pop.  A.P. and I gave up on the pop, because Maybelle apparently is addicted to Sierra Mist.  It was impossible to get it away from her.  She also refused to eat anything but the pink cotton candy. This came after a day of treats at the Family Matters event at GRCC, then a birthday party which included not only the usual cake and ice cream, but salad, breadsticks, and lasagne. 

Weight Watchers, I didn’t even know you today.

My husband’s project in St. Louis finished up early, but he suspiciously couldn’t get a flight home today.  He thought it would be best just to check out of his hotel and head over to Ricardo’s house for the night instead, so I am looking forward to picking his hung-over self up from the airport tomorrow.

Right now though, I am so happy.  That this week is almost over, that we all made it in-tact, and that I live in a place I can take my kids downtown at night and feel safe doing so.  We only live about 10 minutes door to door from Van Andel, and both kids were asleep before I got home.  It’s nice and quiet, and I am going….to….sleep…

This post is a little bit of housekeeping and tidy-ing up, since that is totally not happening in my ‘real’ house right now.

First, “Why are they calling ME mom?” made a comment on my most recent “Menu Plan Monday” that she plans her menu out for two weeks.  Cheers; that’s some organization right there.  She did a post on her blog with more information if you would like to see how she does it.

On my post about activities to do with groups of kids, eastowners mentioned a tour of an ice cream place on the East Beltline.  It was Marble Slab Creamery, but I think they have since gone out of business.  I suspect they did it just to avoid us returning; the staff was quite underwhelmed with our children. Also, I will be sure to do another post in the fall about orchard tours! There are so many to choose from around here.

3inunder 3 made a comment about a movie rental program called “Redbox”.  I did a search and found out that we have one in town; it is at the 52nd Street Meijer.  It is $1 per movie per day.  Check out their website for more info and a code for one free rental.

The Diaper Diaries asked if the Entertainment Book card can be used at the Heritage Restaurant after my post about cheap dates. It can, but only on certain days.  See the Entertainment Book for more details.

And finally – definitely in the “Last but not least” category is a comment from Elaine on my post about my husband being out of town, who reminded me not to serve supper too early.  This has been the temptation evey single night, but I have stayed strong and held out until normal dinner time.  In case anyone else finds themselves in this situation – this is great advice!
