Someone Spilled Granola On My Binder

Reduce, Reuse, RecycleI’m feelin’ a little crunchy this week.  For Make it Monday, we are going to make something using recycled materials.

My kids are pretty good about recycling. For some reason, they can understand that cardboard goes in the bin on the back porch, but cannot grasp the difference between trash and laundry. I have clothes in the trash and garbage in the laundry schute almost daily.

So out they go to the back porch, to get a milk carton. We’re going to make a Milk Carton Piggybank.  I got the instructions from this website.

  1. Get an empty milk jug.
  2. Clean it thoroughly.
  3. The directions say let them draw eyes, but I think I will just let them glue on some of those googly eyes you get in craft stores.
  4. Cut a tail and ears out of construction paper. Let the children glue them on.
  5. Cut a hole big enough to slide coins in.

The kids will earn coins this week every time they reduce, reuse, or recycle something. I am very curious to see what they come up with…
